Message from the Editor-in-ChiefIt's with great pleasure and appreciation that I welcome you to New Mexico's INFLUENCE Magazine! Our magazine’s theme is “Celebrating Diversity in All of New Mexico,” and INFLUENCE celebrates diversity in all of its aspects ... culture, arts, food, health, travel, fashion, music, business and economic development, education, religion, environment, and technology in this region of New Mexico set west of the Pecos River.
I was originally born in Germany, and settled in Alamogordo some years back. Through this publication, I wish to share my own history and life in New Mexico, all that I've learned, and the stories told to me over the years by those who were born here: their ancestors, and those who are immigrants like myself. I want people all over this area to know more about the lives of everyone who has made this their home and be inspired by them like I am. The inaugural edition of INFLUENCE features articles about our region’s indigenous roots, as well as modern, thought-provoking articles on New Mexico lifestyle, people profiles, entertainment and recreation listings, and health and wellness. In closing, I would like readers to really “feel” the benefits and value of appreciating a diverse community that includes everyone. That’s the prominent message I want to deliver.
